Pedestrian crossing light missing 4 months

Reported by Ben Rodgers at 09:02, Tue 4 October 2022

You have today closed the report I made on 5.Sep.22, despite the fact that this light is still missing and the mess on the pavement is still causing a hazard. It is really quite outrageous to describe the problem as "fixed" when it is not. It has got worse. The reason you closed the report is in order to cover up the fact that you have failed to repair this timeously. So I am reproducing here the report I made a month ago, and the update I made 10 days ago: "5.Sep.22: The light was destroyed in a road traffic collision nearly three months ago and still has not been replaced. Children use this crossing and it is not safe without the pedestrian signal. There is a hole in the ground where the post should be and this has been piled up with red/white barriers and traffic cones, which are a tripping hazard right outside a busy supermarket. 25.Sep.22: You have had over 3 weeks since my report in which to fix these lights. In the last 24-48 hours you have placed a “crossing not in use” sign over the pedestrian push-button box on the western side of the crossing. It is unrealistic to expect pedestrians to not cross here. By covering the pedestrian push-button box, you have made the crossing MORE dangerous for pedestrians, since the “WAIT” light now cannot be seen lighting and extinguishing. The traffic cones piled up outside the supermarket have got worse. This is a complex junction with cycle lanes on three sides. It is not safe without the signalling it was designed to have. Someone is going to get hurt here if you don’t fix these lights. Within 500m of these lights there are schools attended by 2,500 children."
