Drain cover is clasping

Reported in the Manhole Cover - Damaged (rocking or noisy) category anonymously at 10:25, Mon 16 December 2019

Sent to TfL 5 minutes later. TfL ref: FMS1890260.

The drain cover is clasping causing a danger to cyclist and also causing massive vibrations to neighbouring buildings when the buses drive past. The buses are literarily taking off on one side, which also can’t be good for the suspension either.

  • So they came a fixed the drains, thank you. However, they only repaired two and there are three drains. By not fixing the 3rd drain the issue will return again.

Please arrange to fix third drain before the other two collapse again.

  • Whatever work was done on one or two of the drains at the junction between Camberwell New Road and Vassall Road has not fixed the wider drainage issue of water not draining away after any light or heavy rainfall by the bus stop on Camberwell New Road northbound. This is causing flooding making conditions dangerous for traffic, cyclists and pedestrians. Something is causing a blockage to the drain either because of a collapse or something else. The flooding is nothing new and has been ongoing for at least 6 months.

  • So the repair has already failed. Two people came to repair it, I told them the problem and they still didn't fix it and it has failed after 3 days of the repair! This is such a waste of time and a lot money.

  • This is now not safe! I've already seen a cyclist wobbling to avoid the hole and nearly hitting a car. It's only a matter of time until someone is seriously hurt.
