Noisy manhole cover at entrance to Shalstone Rd from Clifford Avenue

Reported in the Manhole Cover - Damaged (rocking or noisy) category anonymously at 12:10, Sun 5 January 2020

Sent to TfL 5 minutes later. TfL ref: FMS1919358.

Continual problem over the years - gets reported, mended, okay for a while and then the noise starts again. Worst at night as vehicles tend to drive quicker. Sound echoes round houses. There are 2 manhole covers so don't know which one is actually making the noise.

  • Tfl attended this location on 06/01/2020. Three man hole covers at the junction with Shalstone Rd were identified two on the westbound carriageway, one on the south westbound carriageway directly opposite with Shalstone Rd. none of the covers are rocking as they have rhino patch resin applied to them, which holds the perimeter of the covers securely better than asphalt material. There is however a slight dip around the cover on the south westbound carriageway. As vehicles approach the cover the grip of the tyres against the asphalt can be heard. This is possibly what the MOP is hearing please can they reply to confirm this as the covers are NOT rocking.
