Temporary traffic lights causing congestion across our driveway
Reported in the Roadworks category anonymously at 18:01, Mon 27 January 2020
Sent to TfL 4 minutes later. TfL ref: FMS1964085.
This is an ongoing problem which I hope will be addressed swiftly. The works are necessary, and I understand that. However, the signage has caused us unimaginable problems when I try to enter or exit our driveway. The drive has been cut away to allow entry onto the property but the sign saying, ‘when red light shows wait here’ is causing problems because the sign is actually leaning against the traffic lights and drivers are following the letter to the fullest which causes vehicles to stop right up to the lights, which then causes the driver behind to stop right outside the drive at 65 Brownhill Road, making it difficult to access the drive or exit it. My mother, who is in her 90s, and the holder of a disabled badge gets very frustrated and anxious when she has to sit in the car for a long time while I wait for a considerate driver who will ‘allow’ us to exit the drive, or from the opposite direction, for us to access the drive. This problem could be solved very easily if someone with the authority would come and see me so that I could explain in real-time, and demonstrate how it could be solved.
Thank you for your report. This will has now be investigated by our team and we have been in contact with SGN to assist you in existing or entering your drive, as the temporary traffic lights are in place to assist the volume of traffic, they are unable to move the traffic management. If the issue you have reported is an emergency we will aim to update you on progress within 24 hours.

The temporary traffic lights for traffic driving towards Catford let through 5 cars at a time but let’s through 15-18 coming the other direction. Assume this is to do with keeping the normal traffic lights going around the A205 square so the Traffic coming into Catford doesn’t block up the single lane for traffic coming out, but as a result the traffic going in is queued back for miles!
