Trees overhanging garden, blocking the light

Reported in the Low hanging branches and general maintenance category anonymously at 15:31, Thursday 7 May 2020

Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS2108796.

The trees behind my property overhang my garden and block out light to my property.

The trees are actually on Bromley Hill, but overhang my garden leading to sap and bird waste ruining my fencing and decking. Also, due to their size (around 20 feet high), they block all light out to our house. This means we have the heating on most of the year round but also in the winter, the temperature is especially cold and we need lighting on the whole day though. The sandbank has also attracted litter bugs, people urinating and last summer, we had a homeless man from Poland living in them for a week before the Police moved him on.

We would like the trees reduced in size and the area tided. We believe this to be a more than fair request given all the circumstances.

Can you please confirm what the next steps are?

Thanks in advance.

  • Hi there, I received your auto response on 12.05.20 - any update? I would prefer to meet someone to discuss the problem, rather than be told you'e preformed a survey. Could you confirm what the do's and don'ts are for potentially managing them ourselves? Thanks

  • Hi there, we've had no contact yet we registered this over 10 days ago. In fact, it's been 1 month. This would seem a simple issue to fix so it's frustrating to have heard nothing at all.
