Workmen came and cut out 2 holes in the footpath and left

Reported in the Pavement Defect (uneven surface / cracked paving slab) category anonymously at 15:28, Friday 15 May 2020

Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS2117001.

The 2no holes in the footpath have been cut this morning. approximately one meter square. There is tarmac on the foot path then suddenly 2no large cut outs with earth, serious issue with a pedestrians who has bad visibility. Workmen just told me that you are planning to plant oak trees? This close to the edge of the highway, on a foot path? Surely, this must be a mistake? Also, the roots from the proposed trees will undoubtedly cause damage to the properties which are adjacent, around 8 meters away. Also, the private land which forms part of this foot path is 4 meters away from the cut outs. No prior notice to us or any communication whatsoever. This cannot be correct!. There are trees all around us, Do we need more?
