Pedestrian crossing keeps changing to red every 20 seconds

The pedestrian crossing keeps changing to red without anyone pressing the wait button. The noise is annoying for local residents and vehicles having to stop/start for no reason just adds to the air pollution. This has been ongoing since the start of the year and has not been fixed.

No, this has not been fixed. I just walked past on the way home and the problem persists. I have taken a video.

This is still occurring when no one presses the button. I stood and watched it go through 3 cycles with no one else there

Your report has been investigated by our team. These traffic lights are operating as they intended. This crossing has been adapted to prioritise pedestrian over general traffic vehicles using a technique known as Green Man Authority. In the absence of vehicle demand these crossings will default and remain on the pedestrian green signal, allowing pedestrians to know they have priority to continue their journey safety as they approach the signals. However, once a vehicle is detected the crossing will move to the traffic green signal and allow the vehicle(s) to continue their journey. This is an important tool in enabling traffic signal in London to be set up to support and prioritise people choosing to walk. What a crazy idea for a road that has a lot of traffic. It is not a problem pressing a crossing button and waiting a few seconds to cross a road. You are causing noise and air pollution (irritating beeping and traffic stopping and starting). Why has it taken you 8 months to make this statement? Previously you just told me the issue was fixed.
