Aggressive workmen’s blocking off road 40 minutes before scheduled time

I emerged from a local road into a blocked street where a lorry was driving in the opposite direction thankfully missing me. This is the third time the road has been blocked off at least 30 minutes early blocking access to my flat. I asked the workman to let me through and he was refused and was also unable to justify why the road was shut earlier than scheduled. He then stood in front of my car. My elderly colleague from Sainsbury’s had her bus diverted as a result and struggled to get home. It’s completely unacceptable. I will be calling the police next time which is a complete waste of their time give them current crisis.

Following on from your recent report we can confirm that we have received comments from the contractors on the night in question. Your comments regarding the early start could only relate the contractor establishing Traffic Management for the closures. The actual road closure and therefore the works themselves did not start prior to 22:00.
They were aware of this incident as it was reported as a near miss on the night. The member of public concerned was trying to breach our Traffic Management and failed to respond to reasonable instructions.
The near miss was recorded at 22.20, no registration details were recorded as there was not an incident The contractor decided not to take the matter any further.
