Wait timer times out before the lights turn to red.

Reported in the Pedestrian wait button not working category anonymously at 12:31, Tuesday 30 June 2020

Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS2179277.

The wait button consistently goes off without making the lights go to red and allowing pedestrians to cross. Has been an issue in the 4 years since I have lived here but seems to be getting worse. Always worse when Thames Water are in the area (every 2-4 months digging up the road). Today had to press it 4 times (i.e. I pressed it, it would light up "wait" but then go dark without changing the lights to red). It may be too sensitive to people crossing the road or stepping out a little - does this trigger it to 'cancel'? Very busy road and takes a long time to change to red anyway, so when it gets cancelled it's very frustrating.
