Issues with phasing on the pedestrian lights

Reported in the General Fault category anonymously at 09:51, Friday 31 July 2020

Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS2224526.

The controlled pedestrian crossing outside the Roundhouse pub, at the junction between the A3 and the B234 is faulty. It registers a pedestrian request to cross and lights up wait, but in an apparently random way, will cancel the request 5-10 seconds before the pedestrian crossing turn. It isn't a system of letting the traffic have two phases before a pedestrian phase, because the wait light goes out entirely and the button needs to be pressed again. All pedestrian crossing buttons are affected by the fault. This is a crossing regularly used by parents with small children and children going to / from school by themselves who, if not careful, might not realise the crossing request has cancelled and therefore could cause them to dangerously step out into traffic.
