Pavement widening hurts cyclists
Reported in the Streetspace Feedback category anonymously at 09:40, Mon 24 August 2020
Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS2260192.
I was hoping someone can explain the pavement widening on Bishopsgate. I see that you have tweeted that works should make walking and cycling around the city easier. However, the opposite is true for cyclists. You have squeezed us into a smaller space that is shared with the large double decker buses. I need to cycle from Threadneedle Street to Spitalfields a long Bishopsgate and I now feel very vulnerable that I have less space to cycle in.
Can you please explain how this is making cycling and walking safer.

Further to the correspondence back in August, I note that there is still no safe space for cyclists up Bishopsgate. It is impossible to access the advanced cycle boxes at the junction of Wormwood Street/Camomile Street. Also, I felt very scared today when cycling past the police station on Bishopsgate, two busses were stopped at the bus stops and a third bus tried to get past and left me less than a meter of room.
