Sent to TfL less than a minute later.
TfL ref: FMS2272988.
I would urge the Mayor and TFL to reconsider its changes to the road from Balham to Tooting.
This is one of the main arterial roads into London and it has been dangerously impacted by the new cycle lane measures introduced.
The bus journey times have significantly increased due to the sheer volume of traffic caused by the narrowing of the road.
The traffic is crawling at snails pace, which is only going to increase already high vehicle emissions in the area.
Ambulances are being prevented from safe passage to St George's Hospital. It is harder for them to navigate through the traffic whilst on blue lights. This is delaying their journey time to the hospital and potentially risking people's lives.
The measures need to be urgently reconsidered with Bicycles taken off the main road and quiet ways introduced for them on the back streets.
The road width is already too narrow to accommodate such significant changes.
This same issue is happening in the direction of Balham with tailbacks occurring and journey times being severely impacted. This will have knock on effects to people using public transport due to the removal of bus lanes.
