Feedback on streetspace in islington

Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS2277147.
"So far on two separate occasions the emergency services, in St Peter’s ward, have struggled to get to their destinations, firstly it added 4 minutes, on a call out for the fire brigade journey due to unlocking posts, secondly paramedics had to leave their ambulance and walk up St. Peter’s street to get to a patient, as they couldn’t drive the ambulance through, then the poor patient, had to be taken back through the streets. This is so dangerous, our lives are being put at risk, unnecessarily. The roads that have remained open in Islington, are beginning to look like static car parks, the traffic is horrendous, which again is extremely dangerous, not only is it causing more air pollution, emergency services are getting stuck in this traffic too, again adding valuable minutes to their journeys. Considering the UK current national threat level is substantial, an attack is likely, and Islington is in the heart of London, if there was an attack, these closures could be catastrophic. London is a very dangerous city, what with knife crime, muggings etc., and I really feel these closures, are just going to increase the levels in our area, especially as the perpetrators will know, the police cannot get to them. It’s not just Islington residents that are opposed to these, in my opinion, dangerous and ridiculous, closures, its local businesses too, who are already struggling due to COVID-19, as they are going to miss out on passing trade and regulars, as it’s to awkward to drive to them. Disabled people, with movement problems, have been penalised yet again, due to their disabilities, as they now have to travel all around the houses to get from A to B, stuck in traffic jams, causing them more discomfort having to drive for longer periods and of course costing them more money due to using more petrol and no doubt possibly even fines, if they go down a wrong street, as unfortunately they cannot ride a bike or walk further then short distances. It is also impacting their mental health as now they cannot visit local friends easily, so are not bothering. Then there is parking, there is already a shortage of places to park in Islington and now we are losing what we already had. These closures are causing a lot of stress and anxiety to a lot of local people, who have lived in this borough all of their lives, even those that don’t drive, who are worried about the impact they are having on our emergency services. There is no need for the changes, as since the road humps and speed limits were introduced in Islington years ago, our roads have been pretty safe and our air pollution will not improve either, as moving traffic causes less air pollution then static. It is the car drivers that pay road tax, have vehicle’s that are tested to be road worthy and have to pass not only a driving test, a theory test too plus of course pay congestion charge, yet it is they who cannot use the roads. You don’t walk the streets of London Mr Khan, or ride a bike everywhere you go, so why are you expecting Londoners to, especially when a day doesn’t go by that someone has not been attacked, some even fatally in London. People will still have to drive, due to deliveries, to get to and from hospitals as they cannot use public transport, to transport disabled children, etc., etc. Please stop this madness, as these changes are affecting people’s mental and physical health and general happiness."
