Sinking & Very noisy Manhole Cover

Reported in the Manhole Cover - Damaged (rocking or noisy) category anonymously at 19:28, Sun 13 September 2020

Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS2292668.

On 3 Sep 2020 I reported 2 x VERY NOISY Manhole Covers on the Pedestrian Crossing which had sunk and were potentially very dangerous. You came out and covered 1 in tarmac but left the other untouched. It has now sunk further and is getting increasingly noisy and every time it gets driven over by a car, pretty much 24/7, it makes a loud clanging noise. The Manhole Cover is directly outside mine, and others, bedroom windows and is causing many sleepless nights. I would assume that as it is loose and has sunk by about 2 inches there is also a chance it could collapse and could cause an horrendous accident.

Updates

  • You have repaired one pair of drain covers but not the other. There is a second set of covers which are sinking further and the noise level (rattling) is constantly increasing. Is it possible to repair the 2nd set and help me get a good nights sleep, please.
