Traffic lights causing long tail backs

Reported in the General Fault category anonymously at 08:50, Fri 25 September 2020

Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS2310944.

The traffic lights at the junction of Ritherdon Rd turning into Balham High Road (A24) are set to red for 70 secs and green for only 15secs. Even with the Traffic flowing quite well on the A24 these lights are now creating 200m tailbacks of 30+ cars at peak times on Ritherdon Rd (a residential road and main artery for school-children walking to various schools on A24). This is a new phenomenon created by TFL’s erroneous traffic schemes in/around Balham. Please consider re-timing these lights so that our road is t turned in to an angry traffic jam. An easy thing to do. And please don’t say ‘these traffic lights are working as intended’ or ‘please call customer service’. Please understand that TFL’s I’ll-advised road schemes have had knock-ons throughout the local road system and that adjustments need to be made.
