Unruly cyclists riding on the footpaths around Potters Filed, St Katherines Dock and Shad Thames SE1 2LH

Reported via desktop in the Streetspace Feedback category anonymously at 15:06, Wed 14 October 2020

Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS2340891.

We have a two year old daughter who we sometimes take for walks around Potters Filed, St Katherines Dock and Shad Thames. On a number of occasions we, or she, have come close to being hit by cyclists riding on the footpaths around this area. I have just looked on the TFL cycle map and was surprised to see all the footpath's around this area marked in green. The map has no key to explain what this means and the footpaths are not marked as cycleways, but this is part of the reason so many cyclists treat these paths like roads. Can you please clarify the position on your map and with signage around the area - these are lovely places to walk but they are completely inappropriate for cyclist who want to use them as a fast short cut to their destination - there are no road markings, no clear rules of behaviour, the paths are frequently quite narrow, etc.. I am a cyclist myself and a great supporter of TFL's cycling initiatives but inconsiderate and dangerous cyclist make your work harder and put the public - sometimes myself included - against cycling. Can you please take action to make cyclists realise they can't race down footpaths ringing their bells, expecting pedestrians to run out of their way. The public will be more supportive of cyclists if they are not intimidated by them. There is also a very real danger someone is going to be badly hurt by a fast cyclist on a footpath that TFL's cycle map shows marked in green
