Loose manhole cover again TFL reference 14873354

Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS2396386.

With regards to email from TFL below, from Andrew Clapham, it is with great frustration that I’m having to report to you that the manhole cover has lasted about 7 months as it has come loose, again. This after the second time repairing in 18 months...

Can this be sorted as a matter of urgency and for all the reasons highlighted previous times (hazardous for road users, immense noise and nuisance this causes to surrounding residents etc.) We urge for repairs this time to not take months before it’s done, which it shouldn’t as TFL now knows exactly who should fix it and where it is. And we also urge that the repair is done in such way that it will last longer before it become loose again.

I’m pleased to confirm we repaired the manhole cover on 25 March.

  • Hi,

    Could you please provide details of who is responsible for this manhole as previously it took 18 months for this to be repaired and all correspondence was via TFL, which isn’t helpful in trying to get this resolved in a more solid way as TFL keeps on saying it’s not owned by them, neither is it Southwark Council, Thames Water and and of the large energy companies as this has already been established during the time it took to repair the manhole cover twice before. As local residents we should be able to have this information as per the Freedom of Information Act.
