I have observed several cars running the red light, they are confused

Reported via desktop in the General Fault category anonymously at 19:00, Tue 15 December 2020

Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS2433712.

Near Sainsbury's ; Cars travelling east are confronted from their point of view by a red light for them and a simultaneous green light for bicycles; if they are not paying 100% attention this is very dangerous; I reported it last year, having seen on several occasions pedestrians running out of the way of approaching cars ; I was nearly run over myself this evening - do not ignore again.

  • This has not been fixed - I see no evidence of any change. In case I was not being clear in my previous reports, I attach a photo; this is what faces drivers - and 30 seconds before this shot was taken I witnessed yet another car jump the red light; I saw a couple with a baby in a stroller gesticulating at that car as they avoided it. I only had to wait 20mins for this to happen - therefore I conclude that it happens several times a day, so it is only a matter of time before someone gets hit. This will land up on your desk again at that point, in a legal dispute - only the damage will have been done. The solution is pretty easy : remove the large light on the left (ringed in red) and leave the small one below - the latter is easy visible to cyclists, and will not be read wrongly by drivers.
