Pothole formed next to double manhole cover Trinity Road and Brodrick Road
Reported via desktop in the Manhole Cover - Damaged (rocking or noisy) category anonymously at 00:55, Thu 24 December 2020
Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS2445929.
On Trinity Road prior to the traffic light junction Burntwood Lane, but just after the junction with Brodrick Road. A double width manhole cover has dropped, forming a large pothole on the LHS of the carridgeway. The roadway is uneven. Users have to position into the centre part of the lane in order to pass safely. Please do not over-fill with tarmac, but apply a complete level repair, for the safety of bike users.

This is still a problem despite being reported on 24 December. The hazzard is getting deeper and cars trying to avoid it are causing problems on the other side of the road. Please could this be dealt with asap ? Thanks

Sadly, the fix to the manhole cover was insufficient. The tarmac used to fill in has fallen away on one side. The manhole cover is still lower than the roadway level. The manhole cover now rocks / is insecure. A large lengthways hole has now formed, approx 10cm x 25cm , exposing the drain.

This has broken again in the last day or so and is unsafe. The tarmac that was added to fill the hole has now completely gone. The hole around the pothole is a deep gap filled with loose rocks and the sharp metal edge of the drain faces incoming traffic. This could easily cause a bicycle or moped to lose balance. This needs to be fixed properly as clearly the patch-ups are not working.
Secondary to the safety concerns above, this issue is causing a noise disturbance to surrounding residents.

Tarmac has been added to fill the hole, but the drain cover has not been replaced or secured. It is very noisy when cars drive over it and disturbing nearby residents.
