Drain cover at bus stop L on Rectory road N16 damaged, loose and noisy

Reported via mobile in the Manhole Cover - Damaged (rocking or noisy) category anonymously at 23:58, Sun 3 January 2021

Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS2459632.

This drain cover by bus stop L on Rectory road N16 7SD has been loose and very noisy for months now. Every time a bus approaches the bus stop it causes a loud clanking/banging. This happens very frequently throughout the day and night as there are 5 different busses stopping at this bus stop including 3 night busses. The road surface surrounding the drain appears to be damaged again - this was repaired a few months ago but the repair has now failed and in any case it didn’t correct the defect causing the noise. As this is a residential street I hope that tfl will make it a priority to fix this defect given the substantial disturbance it is causing.

No repair has been carried out as you can see from the attached picture taken today Wednesday 13th of January at 12.53pm. Please can tfl attend to the issue as a matter or urgency as the drain cover is loose, damaged and extremely noisy as previously reported causing a lot of disturbance as busses continuously drive over it causing loud clanking/banging as previously reported.

  • The drain cover remains extremely noisy causing a lot of disturbance to us residents living nearby as we have to put up with frequent loud banging as busses continuously drive over it - this is a busy bus stop. The very basic repair that was done to the damaged road surface around the drain some time ago was in no way sufficient. Indeed it did not solve the noise pollution problem that this defect has continued to cause for many months now without having been fully resolved despite various reports. Please can TFL address the matter once and for all and as a matter of urgency. Thank you.
