Major ongoing works
Reported via desktop in the Roadworks category anonymously at 10:36, Mon 4 January 2021
Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS2460112.
There is currently no listing of these works on London works? which is unacceptable as this is required to be uploaded/accepted into the NRSWA system to allow motorists to plan their journeys effectively with the knowledge of Statutory undertaker, duration and description of works.

These works still continue. The works have not been completed during the festive period when there was less traffic and no roadworks have actually been being undertaken during the festive season or out of hours to ensure that the lanes could be opened when most of the traffic is trying to use the roads. I was sat in the traffic this morning for over 2 hours and I was sat in the same traffic as an ambulance on an emergency call. They had their lights flashing and could not make headway against the sheer volume of traffic. The management of these works is non-existent. The works should be being undertaken to reduce the impact to tax paying road users. There should be multiple gangs of workers to reduce completion time, on rotating shifts to reduce completion time or alternatively if the works are to be carried out as they are at the moment with very few workers actually completing works then they should be completed during low traffic times with lanes opened when workers are not on site to ensure traffic can flow when work is not progressing. The Beckton A406 roundabout underpass is closed even when there are no workers or works progressing on the underpass itself and the works are actually by the . The works appear to be progressing without any consideration for road users especially as the a2 which is the only other route into Town has also had a lane restriction brought into place. There does not appear to be any 'joined up thinking' here, I work for an essential services provider for NHS Trusts, HMPs and other government departments however we cannot get to work if routes into London are closed off without consideration over how people will actually get into London, the mains water works have been failing to progress since the beginning of December however the works on the A2 could have been delayed, as could the mains water works on the A13, or any number of the above traffic management methods could have been implemented.

These works now appear to have been cleared from the a13 totally, thankfully. Traffic now just back to normal. Although the lack of joined up thinking, lack of work completion during engineering hours to enable lanes to reopen during peak traffic times and the lack of progression during the low traffic period over the festive period still should be investigated to ensure that this doesn't occur without appropriate forethought again.
