The manhole cover in the westbound lane of the A205 looks dangerous and is rocking very noisily

Reported via desktop in the Manhole Cover - Damaged (rocking or noisy) category anonymously at 08:15, Tue 26 January 2021

Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS2501645.

The manhole cover had a temporary fix of being coated in tarmac last year. This has all but worn away within 6 months. It is making a very loud noise with every vehicle driving over it. The cover is outside 162 Stanstead Road.

  • The manhole cover outside 162 is still broken and rattles. Increased traffic has made this much noisier. It’s dangerous. It needs fixing.

  • Hi

I see someone else has reported this in January and this morning. The noise from the manhole cover is unbearable. Everytime a car or lorry drives over it makes a loud bang/clanking noise disturbing residents' sleep and also creates noticible vibrations in the houses nearby. The manhole cover is loose and the road surface not even. It's clearly unsafe for drivers and disturbing to residents and has not been fixed. Please address asap.

    Many thanks
