Eastbound, traffic lights east of Norman Road not possible to view yellow or green until right underneath the lights

Reported via desktop in the General Fault category anonymously at 08:37, Thu 28 January 2021

Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS2506078.

The green and yellow phases of the eastbound lights, east of the junction with Norman Road aren't visible until you're right at the light (and I suspect not at all in a high vehicle) - as you can see from Google Streetview attached. The shutters on the lights are pointed really far downwards, especially as it's a 30mph limit on the street. There's no way that someone travelling at the road limit, as many vehicles are, would be able to stop when a red light suddenly appears in front of them.

This morning a delivery van was tailgating me on my bike, for example. I could just see that the light was yellow as I came up to it but I guess he couldn't, and he forced me through the light.

It's made worse by the fact that the lights are timed such that someone who just passes through the first lights before they change is stopped by the second yet they're not expecting to be stopped. So as a cyclist I *can* stop, but then I'd get hit from behind. It's clear that I would've got hit from behind this morning had I stopped at the red light.

While I'll obviously report this specific incident, these lights are really worrying to cycle through because of these two issues - the timing, and the fact that the drivers behind me probably aren't expecting me to stop because they can't see the yellow phase.
