Damaged caused by sign

On my way in to work I was travelling from Vauxhall bridge road towards Victoria, a journey I make a lot as I’m emergency services. On the 28th I was travelling in the left hand lane as I usually turn left on to Charlwood Street. I heard a bang on my car but didn’t know what it was. I looked in my mirror and there isn’t any reason. There was no pedestrians or bike around so was sure I hadn’t hit anyone. There was a few road works on the pavement close to the road and a yellow step thing I don’t know that they’re called but the usually get put over the top of cables to stop people falling. I thought I’d gone over that. When I got to work I noticed a huge scratch along the length of my car. I looked at my dash cam footage and saw there was a sign at an angle and hanging over in to the right slightly. I didn’t see this at the time as I wouldn’t expect to see it there. Parts of it I have managed to t cut out, but some two parts I haven’t been able to. When I got in to work and managed to get back down there to check it had fallen to the floor. I’m extremely disappointed that this has happened to my beautiful car that's going to leave me out of pocket for something that wasn't my fault but thankfully it hit a car and not a bike, or a pedestrian as it may have done a lot of damage physically to them.
