Change the pedestrian lights to countdown style signs
Reported via mobile in the Pedestrian wait button not working category anonymously at 22:29, Sun 4 April 2021
Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS2652871.
These two traffic lights are in front of a busy secondary school called central foundation girls school. This is the third time I have seen and it happened to my neighbours child too that the green walk sign quickly changes to red stop sign whilst children are still crossing the road. This is extremely dangerous and it seems like it’s just a matter of time a child will get hit by a car. To avoid this I would urge you to change those lights to the count down style - when the green walk sign is there and then it changes to countdown from 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 and then the red light comes. This way children will know exactly when to stop and they can visually see much time they’ve got to cross the road. Right now it’s so dangerous, the sign just changes from green to red and the cars just zoom off.
