Unnecessary lane closures

For days lanes have been closed off and no works have been happening. On the roundabout this morning was one guy and a wheelbarrow which he was sat in.

The A316 is being taken down to one lane whereas at the roundabout it is normally three lanes. The coned area is badly designed AND it is totally unnecessary as there are no workers requiring protection. When the roundabout (was being mowed) they never needed to close lanes. This is causing CHAOS.

  • Morning the T M was set up exactly as it was during the 10-week programme (before we temporarily left site due to delays with supply to the roundabout. The reinstatement of the roundabout is going well and we think we’ll be finished sooner than planned (circa beginning of next week). Obviously, the lane closure on the approach and on the roundabout is in place to protect our work force, as well as facilitate deliveries and grab lorries. With regards to the ‘lack of workmen on site’ is on the approach tapers, where we don’t have work to complete. Thank you for taking the time to report this to us.   • I don't see why you need to take three lanes of the A316 down to one lane. I don't see why you need to cone off the inside lane of the roundabout 24 hours a day for the occasional delivery. Cars aren't going to drive up and on to the roundabout and hit workers.

    Even so - remove the traffic management when the work isn't going on so people can get in to work and back home from work without unnecessary cones.

    It's difficult enough to get around London without you making it unnecessarily harder. I would like a proper resonse.
