It appears there is a pothole at the edge of the manhole cover which has caused it to become loose. When a vehicle drives over the cover, the cover gets lifted up and then crashes back down producing a loud banging noise. As you are aware, this is a very busy road and there is the potential for it to cause an accident. The loud banging noise is also very disruptive at night.

The manhole cover was tarmacked over a week or two ago, however the manhole cover is still loose and the tarmac over it has already broken apart and is moving and banging when driven over.
