Dangerous temporary pedestrian crossing
Reported via desktop in the Roadworks category anonymously at 10:33, Thu 10 June 2021
Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS2781850.
This junction is hazardous at the best of times, but in the last two days I've seen 4 or 5 people almost get hit by cars as they cross. The cars stop too far past the temporary lights and cant see when the lights are red. So when they see that the traffic on the other side has stopped, they set off, where in fact the pedestrian crossing has gone green and people are crossing the road with neither party able to see the other. The whole roadworks seem hugely disruptive. The traffic is backed up all day both ways down the A10 and living right by there all I hear all day are car horns. There was no warning to residents until after the roadworks has started, and the explanation of why it's going to take 5 weeks to change some traffic lights is underexplained.

Thanks for responding, this really does need looking at quickly. Within five minutes (walking to the shop and back) I saw 5 vehicles jump the red light, and could've been hit by a van myself.

Thank you for taking the time to report this to us. It is much appreciated. You will be pleased to know that our Highway Officers have since attended site and have confirmed they didn’t observe any issues. with the temp stop lines and “wait here” signage is in place then the issue could be road user behaviour rather than a problem with setup.
