No white lines or traffic lights for vehicles stranded in central reservation heading south
Reported via desktop in the General Fault category anonymously at 15:02, Sat 19 June 2021
Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS2803882.
My car (red on image), travelling south on the A3220, was stuck in the central reservation of Cromwell Road because the exit from the box junction was blocked. The lights then changed to allow westbound traffic on Cromwell Road. When this traffic stopped, a bus beside me on my left and a car in front of me crossed the box junction, but there was no room for me to cross. When the vehicles ahead moved on a bit, I started to cross the box, only to be hooted by a coach crossing my path from my right (pink on image). We almost crashed. My only concern had been the westbound traffic on Cromwell Road; I had no idea that anything might cut across me from West Cromwell Road bound south-east. Once in that central reservation, one has no idea when it’s safe to move off as there is no white stop line across the road and no visible traffic lights.
This dangerous situation could be prevented if there were additional traffic lights and a white stop line on the road on the south side of the central reservation.
