Traffic lights in the area need to be reviewed
Reported via mobile in the Pedestrian wait button not working category anonymously at 08:06, Wednesday 23 June 2021
Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS2811978.
As a pedestrian, Covid safe streets measures have not helped me, but instead diverted traffic onto main roads meaning they’re busier than ever. The traffic lights in the local area need to be reviewed to prioritise pedestrians to a greater extent than currently. Some lights have been updated to become more responsive which is great (eg near Tesco Metro) without a noticeable negative impact on traffic, given it tends to be slow moving anyway. In this particular set of lights, one side changes quite responsively, while you can wait 5 minute for the other side to change for no particular reason. Sometimes the wait light clicks off without lights changing. The lights further up this road also need reviewing as well as the ones by McDonalds, for the same reasons. I’ve raised these issues before and reports normally get ignored. Please can someone come out and walk around the local roads to see what it’s like. It’s not nice or healthy to be waiting at traffic lights for ages breathing in fumes with young children. It’s enough to put people off walking altogether.
Thank you for taking the time to report this to us. It is much appreciated. This has been investigated and we can confirm that there is a fault with the pedestrian wait button. We have therefore referred this to our contractors and it will be fixed within 28 days. Should you need anything else or have any questions, you may wish to contact our customer services team on 0343 222 1234
Please also be aware that, all Action Scheduled reports are automatically closed after 28 days. However, the fault will be fixed within this timescale, which may be sooner, or in a few cases take a little longer

Thanks for this. Will you also look into the lights further up the A205 near the A2 junction, and also the ones near McDonalds? There are similar issues there.
