Sewage water flooding road and properties due to broken manhole cover that is also part tarmaced over
Reported via desktop in the Manhole Cover - Damaged (rocking or noisy) category anonymously at 15:50, Sun 25 July 2021
Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS2889515.
As shown in the photos, this manhole cover has broken and sewage has burst through. It is raised above the road level making a dangerous obstruction and flooding the road with sewage water. There are at least 5 properties at risk of sewage ingress (some gardens already have been flooded). Sewage is leaking into the storm drains and straight into the very nearby River Wandle watercourse (pollution has been reported to the EA). This is causing pollution and a road hazard and requires immediate attention. Due to the heavy rains of a recent thunderstorm sewage is backing up and causing issues for commercial and residential buildings in the nearby National Trust park Morden Hall Park. Our facilities officer tells me that a pump truck is required. It appears that roadworkers have tarmaced over the manhole.
