Unnecessary lane Closure
Reported via desktop in the Roadworks category by Sarah Bright at 15:06, Tuesday 27 July 2021
Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS2894845.
Cones are needlessly closing of the only left turn only lane from Sidcup Road onto Westbourne Avenue. One lane turning left, one lane exit onto Westbourne Avenue. The needless lane closures at causing disruption to all vehicles. Vehicles attempting to change direction from the left-hand lane to right-hand lane as there is only space for one vehicle on approach. As a driving examiner in the local area. I have witness numerous near misses when vehicles are attempting to change direction. Frustrated drivers cutting across the cones into the lane turning left and right. Drivers are turning from the wrong lane cutting across vehicles on the roundabout. It is only a matter of time before Clifton’s roundabout will be closed due to major accident. Vehicles are forced to turn left from the middle lane signposted indicated as ahead only. Needless clones are causing delays tailing back all the way to a Mottingham Lane.
I understand from Westbourne Avenue to Westbourne Avenue three lanes going ahead, would cause a problem when filtering into one lane on exit. The cones are needed on this approach to protect the workforce working in the lane closure ahead.
