Wait time from button press leading to danger
Reported via desktop in the Pedestrian wait button not working category anonymously at 17:33, Fri 6 August 2021
Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS2919417.
From pressing the button the wait time is excessive for this pedestrian crossing on a heavily polluted road ( 3 min from pressing button). This leads to pedestrians (including children being taken to school) getting exposed to dangerous pollution levels for extended periods and precarious situations with people darting across the busy road. I see this as hostile to local residents.
In other places the max waiting time for a button operated pedestrian crossing outside of intersections is 20 seconds. There is no justification for the waiting time on this particular crossing to be up to 3 minutes, and cutting it down would benefit local residents wellbeing on a daily basis.
