Bus lane in Kenningotn Road next to Kennington Green

Reported via desktop in the Streetspace Feedback category anonymously at 13:26, Thu 9 September 2021

Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS2990279.

Full width of Kenningotn Road at this location still not open after several weeks. When will the full width of the road be open. Plus, no sign of a cycle lane. This is a heavily used cycle rout. Whey no cycle lane? Thank you. ME

  • Dear sir/ madam, This tree needs trimming and maintenance as it’s overhanging branches and leads have caused the roof drainage blockage and in result leaking into our shop , damaged the property fixtures and equipments , 3 weeks ago we paid £5000 for the repairs and fixing the roof but yesterday drain got blocked because of the falling leafs and caused thousands of pounds worth of damage to the property and customer’s clothes. We need this sorting ASAP. Also needs compensation form to make the claim.

  • The full width of Kennington Road at this location is STILL not open after months and months. There seems to be no obvious justification for this, as the bus lane that is blocked off is not being used for any works whatsoever. As a cyclist, I am effectively forced by the closure of this lane to share this stretch of road with a condensed flow of other vehicles, some of which are enormous lorries. I do not feel as safe as I would be if the lane was opened.

May I refer TfL to the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991, which places the responsibility of those undertaking road works to "balance the statutory rights of highway authorities and undertakers to carry out works with the right of road users to expect the minimum disruption from works."

TfL is in breach of this principle, and must remove the barriers which for too long have been interfering with the reasonable use of the road by road users.

And? Could TfL's response be more apathetic and vague?

How about some specifics? What exactly is going to happen and when? Who is taking responsibility?

This is a joke. Bus lane is blocked for absolutely no reason. Clear away the barriers please, and let road users use the bus lane. It's there to be used, not to remain forever on show, behind a barrier.
