Sent to TfL less than a minute later.
TfL ref: FMS2998430.
Perhaps TfL would like to send someone to stand by this crossing for ten minutes at a quiet time of day when few pedestrians are around (ie not at school opening and closing times) and no one presses the button but the traffic keeps having to stop because the light for traffic is red. I’m not sure how ‘vehicle demand is seen’ but I can tell you that it’s not seen very well or the lights would not keep changing to stop the traffic when no one wants to cross! Maybe someone some miles away is looking at a computer which tells them the system is working, but anyone on the ground would quickly see that the traffic is having to stop and start unnecessarily and therefore vehicle emissions are being increased and journeys are taking longer.
