Wait button cancels signal by itself

Reported via mobile in the Pedestrian wait button not working category anonymously at 15:50, Tuesday 14 September 2021

Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS3000832.

On both sides of the crossing, the ring around the button indicates it has been pressed but turns itself off after a few seconds. It does not trigger a crossing phase. I pressed the button on the west side three times and saw this each time, on the Eastern side it occurred when I used it after crossing in stopped traffic. I saw a blind man attempting to navigate the crossing and thankfully he had someone with him.
