Reported via mobile in the Pedestrian wait button not working category anonymously at 15:50, Tue 14 September 2021
Sent to TfL less than a minute later.
TfL ref: FMS3000832.
On both sides of the crossing, the ring around the button indicates it has been pressed but turns itself off after a few seconds. It does not trigger a crossing phase. I pressed the button on the west side three times and saw this each time, on the Eastern side it occurred when I used it after crossing in stopped traffic. I saw a blind man attempting to navigate the crossing and thankfully he had someone with him.
Thank you for taking the time to report this to us. It is much appreciated. This has been investigated and we can confirm that there is a fault with the pedestrian wait button. We have therefore referred this to our contractors and it will be fixed within 28 days.
