Lane closed no work happening
Reported via mobile in the Roadworks category anonymously at 12:11, Sun 10 October 2021
Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS3052813.
There is a lane closed on the A316 at the corner of Clifford Av and the A205. No work is happening and there appears to be no reason for the lane to be closed (no equiptment, no hole in the road or tarmac drying)

Why when their are Engineering Works on the railway this weekend and the M4 is closed did you grant a permit for non urgent connection work to UK Power Networks to close one of two lanes outbound from London on the A316 ????? To add insult to injury there is absolutely nothing happening there today but it is still fully coned off !!

This is disgraceful. There are queues as far as you can see on the A316 and the Lower Richmond road. It has been like this all weekend. There has been no one on site today and there is no number to ring. Thousands of people have been inconvenienced. This is madness. Your officers should be on the case now and demanding action now from UK Power Networks who only answer the phone Monday to Friday 08.30-16 30. And the fumes are bad. I live here. Thanks guys!

Photo of the letter from UK Power Networks. I note "the works are being carried out at the weekend to avoid any disruption. We will work as quickly as possible....". Yeah, right. Let's have a big fine please, and a sign with a public apology to all the inconvenienced motorists and smoked out residents.

Thank you for taking the time to report this to us. It is much appreciated. Further to my email regarding these works, we have looked into this and can see that there were works taking place on the M4 at the same time as the UKPN works. The works on the M4 were not anticipated to cause disruption as far as Lower Richmond Road, however, now we have been made aware of this we will ensure that any future closures of the M4 are shared to the wider area.
