The wait button has been temperamental for years but has got significantly worse in the last couple of weeks. When you press it, it often doesn’t come on. Repeated pressing something works after about 20 presses. Even when the button light does come on, sometimes it dies off again without the traffic lights changing
Reported via mobile in the Pedestrian wait button not working category anonymously at 09:04, Thursday 21 October 2021
Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS3075615.
Affects both sides Outside number 84 Brampton Road, Bexleyheath. I also reported this years ago. If you have that record, you can see how long it has been an issue for. This crossing is adjacent to a school so is heavily used by children. It’s difficult to repeatedly try to push the button when holding hands with toddlers or holding onto buggies.
Thank you for taking the time to report this to us. It is much appreciated. This has been investigated and we can confirm that there is a fault with the pedestrian wait button. We have therefore referred this to our contractors and it will be fixed within 28 days.
