Damage to my car due to a 1 metre blue and white sign on carriageway

I was travelling northbound on the A3 approaching the Raynes Park/New Malden approaching the slip road to Shannon Corner when I thought a sign from a heavily laden lorry in front of me came off the back of the lorry. There was an almighty bang as a blue and white sign collided with the grill, bonnet, windscreen and roof of my car. I was able to follow the lorry and get him to stop at the red traffic lights. I got out of my car and explained to the driver what happened and he gave me his details. He also explained he didn’t carry any such signs on the back of his lorry but said he has dashcams all-round the lorry and I could contact his manager to obtain the videos. I am in contact with the driver’s manager. I proceeded onto my appointment and on the way back decided to check out the scene and look for the sign that hit my car. I found no evidence of the triangular sign, just the metal A frame, but some 20-30 metres ahead was another metal A-frame with its circular sign missing. This sign was broken in two and lying on the ground near its a-frame. Both A-frames had retaining bolts missing. The blue and white sign matched the blue and white impact marks on my car’s grill, bonnet, windscreen and roof. I visited the scene again on Sunday 17th October 2021 to find the 2nd A-frame for the circular sign was no longer there although the triangular A-frame was still in situ. I also noted that at the junction of the A3 with South Lane, roadworks are currently being carried out overnight and temporary road signs and A-frames are laid down on the grass verge some without a weight on them to hold them down. Is this what happened to the road sign that hit my vehicle? I have printed photographs to support the above which I will post to you together with a letter confirming all the above. I shall include an SAE so that the photos can be returned to me.
