Manhole cover loose and unfinished roadwork
Reported via mobile in the Manhole Cover - Damaged (rocking or noisy) category anonymously at 14:34, Sun 31 October 2021
Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS3095052.
The website states this has been fixed but it has not. It has never been fixed except when the manhole cover fell through and there was a hole in the road (spring). This was only a superficial fix and never fixed the underlying problem of the cover being too loose and being part of a pothole. It is a busy road so there are constantly cars going over it. It is dangerous for cyclists and speeding trucks/heavy vehicles. On the other side of the road (as shown in photo) there are roadwork gates surrounding an unfinished job which has been there for months. This morning they were a dangerous obstacle as they had fallen over.
Thank you for taking the time to report this to us. It is much appreciated. This has been investigated and we have now referred it to our contractors. If it is confirmed as a safety issue it will be made safe within two hours. If the manhole cover is owned by us, we will carry out a permanent repair at a later date. If it is owned by another company this will be passed to them for a permanent repair.
