Manhole subsiding and rocking
Reported via mobile in the Manhole Cover - Damaged (rocking or noisy) category anonymously at 20:44, Thu 25 November 2021
Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS3144313.
Has been going on for months, but now very loud, buses going over regularly. The ground around it seems to be subsiding/breaking up so is also very dangerous to cyclists
Thank you for taking the time to report this to us. It is much appreciated. This has been investigated and we have now referred it to our contractors. If it is confirmed as a safety issue it will be made safe within two hours. If the manhole cover is owned by us, we will carry out a permanent repair at a later date. Good morning. It has been 18 days since this was reported and nothing has been done so far. It has become much worse and parts of the tarmac on one side is all coming away. This is now a very serious hazard for buses, cars and especially cyclists. I have attached 3 pictures from this morning at 7am, (an hour before sunrise, hence, the pictures are a little dark). It would be quite dangerous to take pictures once the traffic starts. As mentioned before the heavy double decker busses go over this manhole every 2-3 minutes as it is located on the busy A10 Stoke Newington High Street. I actually live just next to the manhole and the noise of the thudding when the buses go over is very frightening and actually wakes you up in the dead of the night. Please categorise this as priority due the safety issues (if a fast bike has to go over, they would definitely fall over and could be fatal as cars/buses are very close by on this main road. It is also keeping us awake at night, which is seriously impacting our sleep, mental health and quality of life and is having a negative impact on my mum and children. Thank You

We can hear the busses and lorries clanking over this all day and all night and we live in Shannon Court which is 100 meters away! The "fix" is rubbish. You can't just fill a gap with tarmac, it just sinks in. As a cyclist I can see how dangerous this whole is. Why can't you fix it properly?

As above I initially reported this in August and then again in November when it became much louder and more dangerous. Nothing appears to have been done to fix the situation. The customer services number given in your automated response previously, says the office is closed whenever you try to call. Please can you give me the contact details in which to make a formal complaint.
