Manhole cover sunk, loose stones along major road

Reported via desktop in the Manhole Cover - Damaged (rocking or noisy) category anonymously at 08:21, Wed 8 December 2021

Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS3166438.

Manhole needs replacing, a professional repair needs to be completed. Two shoddy repairs were undertaken within the last month, within a day the tarmac broke up and scattered along road. The noise pollution coupled with the large ground movement is causing harm to the residents and there property. An accident is waiting to happen, should a motor cyclist fail to avoid this hazard. Please sort this out today, we have had enough of the lack of care from TFL.

Updates

  • Thank you for your prompt response, the repair was completed around 9pm last night Wed 8th. This morning the repair has again failed, with debris likely to cause problems as detailed in the photos. I suggest consideration is given to revising how the repair is undertaken.

    Regards

  • The manhole cover is rattling throughout the day and night. The thud of the large artic lorries are making the house shake and really concerned it will cause structural damage. This is the third complaint in the last two weeks, I would appreciate if you can sort out as a priority. Thank you.
