Traffic issue and noise complain
Reported via mobile in the General Fault category anonymously at 18:27, Thu 9 December 2021
Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS3170335.
I have lived in this area for 3 years and I’m tired of the car horns. I live at 304 Bethnal Green Road at the crossroads to Valance Rd/Squirries Rd. The traffic lights outside on this junction have a pedestrian crossing as well but the east side of Bethnal Green road is a further from the junction which is causing confusion. When traffic turns in from Valence Road or Squirrues Road to head to the east on Bethnal Green Road they often see the red light, which is intended for the opposite traffic, that they mistakenly stop at. Local people who know the lights come behind them and use their horns and often shout at the person who has mistakenly stopped and is waiting for the light. It causes traffic mayhem and people get into arguments and fights because they think that they should not cross what looks like a red light directed at them. This goes on all day and all night. A local made a sign to try to inform drivers which helped but was quickly taken down. The current situation cause so many people anxiety but you seem unwilling to do anything about it to try to solve it.
