  • Please can I ask someone to urgently look into the hazard on the Eastbound cycle lane of the Blackfriars Upas as you pass under Blackfriars Bridge?

There are thick woody vines/branches haging down from the garden above which hit you in the face when you ride through. During daylight hours you can see them but still have to swerve out of the way which is dangerous enough but at this time of year when it's dark, even with good bike lights they are almost impossible to see until it's too late.

Yesterday one hit me in the face and split my lip. They are extremely dangerous.

They are growing all year round and in the summertime I seen them with thorns. Normally they get cut back but always grow back very quickly. This is the first time I've seen them so mature during the winter season so I'm wondering if something more permanent can be done to end the recurring problem?

    Thank you for your help

  • This needs looking into much more urgently than in 28 days as it’s a serious safety hazard with cyclists approaching them at high speed down the slope under Blackfriars bridge.

Yesterday I was whipped across the face by one and I suspect if I wasn’t wearing glasses it would have hit me in the eye at 20+ mph. As mentioned before this was with bike lights and it was impossible to see them.
