Pavement too narrow for shared use causing risk of injury
Reported via desktop in the Pavement Overcrowding category anonymously at 09:20, Thu 13 January 2022
Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS3237077.
The southern pavement outside St. Mary's Convent on Burlington Lane is designated for shared bicycle and pedestrian use. However the stretch outside the convent also has a controlled crossing. This causes overcrowding on the pavement with people waiting at the lights to cross the road, pedestrians walking in both directions on the pavement, and cyclists (and increasingly e-scooter users) riding at speed in both directions. This creates tension and a serious risk of injury. Shared use on this section of the pavement should be withdrawn to overcome this pavement congestion.
