A3 Underpass both directions
Reported via desktop in the Blocked drain category anonymously at 15:19, Fri 14 January 2022
Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS3240952.
Drains are blocked yet again at the lowest point of the underpass leading to flooding in Lane 2 both directions. Many vehicles are swerving into Lane 1 at the last minute to avoid the problem causing a safety issue for other road users. The lanes have both been flooded since 10 January.
Thank you for taking the time to report this to us. We appreciate this. This has now been investigated and we’ve reported this to our contractors. If the blocked drain is identified as a safety issue it will be made safe within four hours. If it isn't a safety issue, we will aim to resolve it within 28 days. The drain blockage has made the flooding worse since the last report. Whilst there has been no rain, the water table continually leaking in to the underpass has made the flooding rise still further. Fortunately there has been no rain on top. As a motorcyclist, I have now been covered twice in floodwater as a number of vehicles just speed through in lane 2 and fortunately don't aquaplane causing a further hazard. This drain is a known regular problem. Why is there no regular maintenance?
