Excessive traffic management

Reported via desktop in the Roadworks category anonymously at 08:23, Tue 22 March 2022

Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS3406609.

Two lane section of A316 reduced to a single lane (southbound) from Hospital Bridge for a safety zone for contractors working on the OPPOSITE carriageway, 1.64km (over a mile) further ahead. This is causing needless delays and pollution.

The same protection could be offered by simply closing off the third lane at the point where the A316 opens out to 3 lanes near Apex Corner. This would still offer ¾ mile of protection at least.

I fully understand and support the need for protection zones but this is excessive in the extreme and is even affecting bus routes (H22, 481 & 110) in adjacent roads.
