A40 closed without notification

Dear Sir/Madam I may have the incorrect contact details and if wrong, I hope you can forward this FORMAL complaint to the appropriate department. I am referring to the A40 Westway. I have seen the notifications that you are closing the road at weekends, starting 22nd Nov. 2021 till 22nd March 2022 i.e. from Friday evening until Monday morning, but you are not actually stating the exact time of the closure. Now you are also showing signs that the A40 Westway is closed Westbound at weekends until July 2022.

In fact you are not just closing the road at weekends, but also on some weekdays, i.e. 26th Jan. 2022 and 8th March 2022 going eastbound. (by my experience). No advance warnings were given, which is totally unacceptable.

And this past week you also closed the road westbound on Monday evening 21st March 22 without prior warning, which is also totally unacceptable.

How can the person / department be so inconsiderate as well as irresponsible? Do they not realise the frustration, traffic jams they are causing, but have they forgotten about the sky high petrol prices as well as the extra pollution the traffic jams are causing? Clearly they have !

I understand and accept that some repair work might be necessary, but I certainly don't believe that you need to close the complete road, even taking safety measures into consideration. But the fact is, that when driving on the opposite side of the road, which is open, I personally have never seen any work being carried out. Just lorries are parked there and some people standing around.

It is a total disgrace and must ask you to reconsider your actions and I hope you report back to me with a favourable answer as well as an apology and a claim for compensation is being considered . Kind regards Eric Hagen erichagenuk@aol.com
