Horrendously planned roadworks
Reported via mobile in the Roadworks category anonymously at 14:53, Wed 11 May 2022
Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS3518649.
Please can the lane closures be reviewed for the bridge works on the A41 Edgware way near to Apex Corner in the NW7 postcode please, the traffic disruption from these roadworks is significant and causing huge knock on effects in the surrounding area. What doesn’t help a natural route to bypass the traffic is closed as well for water repairs (Hendon Wood Lane)
Can you also confirm why there needs to be a lane closure in place on the A1 Watford way between Mill Hill Circus and Apex Corner? And also in the opposite direction from Apex Corner to Mill Hill circus

These works have been very badly planned. Who on earth agreed to these road closures. Obviously someone who is anti car and doesn't drive. This can not go on for 6 weeks. Please can someone contact me to explain how this was thought out and planned.

Thank you for taking the time to report this to us. It is much appreciated. The temporary road layout will change as the works progress. Information on these changes can be found on the TfL website. The optimum method of working would be to close the road entirely to all vehicles and pedestrians in order to complete the works quickly to assure the quality of the repairs and provide a safe work area. However this would involve diverting pedestrians and vehicles over long distances for several weeks. Therefore, in order to ensure the needs of all road users are balanced, we will be closing the road in phases to complete the works.
Closures on the approach to the roundabout are required to ensure that traffic into the roundabout doesn’t exceed the safe capacity of the exit routes. Removing the closure’s has been explored but it is not considered safe or to provide any benefit as it will reallocate the congestion elsewhere. We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused while the works are taken place.
