Originally a water leak
Reported via desktop in the Roadworks category anonymously at 10:15, Mon 16 May 2022
Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS3528212.
Now the road dug up and there is no work happening by Thames Water or any other contractor to correct the leak. 5 days with no one working at this area. Single file traffic originally on 3 way traffic lights, all the area is affected by huge amounts of traffic causing havoc on the road for all users at junction of A316, chalkers corner. Today traffic lights not working. The South Circular is a major route for all traffic.
Pleased be advised that these roadworks and temporary traffic lights as described by the first report are causing a huge amount of traffic tailbacks and congestion in the area and wider area back to putney and further to Richmond and twickenham. Tailbacks on the nearby chalkers corner has led to a particularly dangerous situation where cars cannot pass safely from one road to the next and so pedestrians and cyclists safety has been affected. The road was dug up on 11.5.22 but I have seen no contractor attending the site since. This should not be allowed on a major A road - the south circular unless the works are completed at night or even during the day but as long as they are actually completed. The road should have been put back whilst waiting for Thames Water or other contractor.
